For a long time North Kensington was Kensington and Notting Hill’s poorer relation, and while the towering council blocks still stand, property prices have soared thanks to London’s never-ending gentrification. It’s hard to believe that North Kensington was once notorious for its slums; now young professionals, trustafarians and the odd celebrity have moved into the area. However, despite the elevated cost of houses it is still marginally more affordable than its neighbours. The boom is unsurprising give the rows of pretty Victorian terraces that sit in stark contrast to the purpose-built blocks of flats; the area is served by numerous tube lines and bus routes and Notting Hill and central London are on its doorstep.
