House prices in Thornton Heath are cheap compared to many areas in the capital, and despite being in south London and in zone 4 (i.e. there is no tube), Victoria station is just 20 minutes away by overground. The last decade has seen a new multi-million pound leisure centre open and the high street contains all the usual chains, however Croydon, which is just a bus ride away, is the main hub for retail and nightlife. The area also boasts many open spaces with a rich wildlife – Thornton Head Pond is a favourite outdoors spot - as there is plenty of greenery within and surrounding Thornton Heath.
