The restaurant at the five star Goring has a menu of very traditional British food, in-keeping with the quintessential Englishness of the hotel. Dishes like beef Wellington, stewed rabbit in Madeira sauce and lobster omelette would make Mrs Beeton proud. The wine comes from the personal cellar of the Gorings themselves, with more than 500 varieties available (note that there are very few under £30).
Twinkly Swarovski chandeliers and a gold and cream colour scheme make this the kind of restaurant you could imagine royalty enjoying, and lo and behold, apparently this is the Queen’s favourite place to eat. Indeed, it’s practically a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace.
