absolutely disgusting the whole family
have been using this chinese for many years tonight's delivery was diabolical ribs that didn't resemble ribs just a bony lump surrounded by inedible grisle delivered cold had to warm in oven then still couldn't eat it the worse takeaway I've ever had the special chowmien apart from 2 prawns would not be able to recognise what other meat or should I say gristle and fat it contains chicken balls cold and sweet chilli sauce instead of curry sauce requested will never use again

I'm afraid it's goodbye to Good Friend (this review is for the takeaway experience - I've never eaten at the restaurant). We've been faithfully getting our takeaways from them for around two years or so.
In the last year the standard has fallen from being really good when we started to last night's denouement.
The mixed seafood fried rice lacked flavour and the fish pieces were tasteless.
The deep fried won tun was mostly very crunchy pastry with something unidentifiable at its centre
The battered prawn balls were tolerable but didn't taste fresh
Ditto the chicken fried rice and Singapore style rice noodles.
I really hate to be so critical because the telephone staff are charming and polite. Unfortunately, this doesn't make up for the disappointment of buying overpriced food that falls so short of expectations

I can honestly say this is the best Chinese takeaway I've ever had. I can't praise the food enough, and the people are lovely.
I highly recommend 'The Good Friend' 10/10

We have eaten at this restaurant two or three times. The service is excellent, and the quality of food is also of a very high standard. It is also noticeable that on our visits there has usually been a number of chinese visitors. Usually a good sign in our experience. Well worth a visit.
