Owner Andy Andreou and his team are quickly winning the hearts and more importantly stomachs of south-east londoners, with authentic greek dishes made using produce sourced in Cyprus, from loukanica sausages to feta cheese and even fruit juices.
Get stuck into a generous helping of tirokafteri, served with a huge basket of warm pitta bread. The smooth and creamy dip made with feta cheese and chili is something of a speciality dish, which given the high cost of feta is rarely seen on menus in the uk. Hot starters begin at £3.50 for a bowl of wholesome home-made soup, with halloumi cheese, dolmades and kalmari costing around a fiver.
The perfect winter warmer main course, kleftiko, or the eighth wonder of the world as we call it, is synonymous with greek cooking, and the fall-off-the-bone meat from the lamb shank is a firm favourite with customers. naturally, dishes cooked on a charcoal grill loom large and start at £11.50. traditional souvlaki (kebabs), tender marinated meat (chicken, lamb, pork or a mixed platter of all three) well-seasoned and char grilled to perfection over searing hot coals. All are served with hoummous and tsatziki, and rice or greek salad - fresh leaves, delicious kalamata olives, red onions, peppers and lots of feta.
