Core issue with this place is the food. Its possible we both ordered the wrong dish (both had steak), but it was totally terrible - far more cooked than we had ordered. Moreover, it was tough, dry, and not tasty. The chips were good as far as they went, but far from great. Moreover, they weren't able to provide any sauce to go with the steak (peppercorn, bearnaise, etc).
For the starters we shared a platter, but barely worth the cost.
The wine was very enjoyable though, and the service was very friendly and personable, albeit that they didn't really understand a huge amount of English.
Hoxton Apprentice operates along the same lines as Jamie Oliver's Fifteen, with the restaurant training up twelve formerly homeless apprentices to work in the kitchen. The menu was devised by Pru Leith and the cuisine is of a good quality.
