My son and I had been to London for the motor show and decided to go to Itsu in Waldour str before getting the train home, we were greeted warmly and shown to a table, the waitress was very attentive and explained the colour coded plates on the conveyor.
We ordered drinks which came within 3mins we ordered a couple of dishes and then started on the conveyor, all the dishes looked very fresh and appertising, the seared beef with dipping sauce was memorable tender and tasty, but best of all were the tempuru prawns that we ordered, the batter was really light and the chilli dipping sauce was perfect not too hot to take away the taste ofthe prawns but spicy enough to give the dish kick.
Extra drinks orded came as quickly as before and my son finished off his meal with a really rich and yummy chocolate mousse which he rated highly. The bill came to £62 including drinks which I think given the quality of food and service was good value
Itsu is a chain of Japanese restaurants that have emerged in recent times. The interior is very designer, with conveyor belts of sushi sliding past the glass shop front and little stools to perch on. The menu is a totally original mix of Japanese and European dishes. The plates are colour coded according to price. Itsu does not take reservations, but kindly asks their guests to entertain themselves in the bar area whilst waiting for a table.
