Having been trying to visit Ichiban for ages but opening times limited. When with a large group, fantastic food, great service, tempura prawns to die for (mouth is watering, just thinking about them), very good value, have just booked again with another large group and can't wait to go back.

Probably the best Japanese restaurant in London. Quality foods at rock bottom prices. A lot has been said about its opening hours. Ichiban is first and foremost a processing unit, that is, they make and supply fresh Japanese noodles to other Oriental restaurants in London. Hence, the idiosyncratic opening hours.

I love Ichiban. It's incredibly good value and you take your own booze so don't get ripped off on drinks. We go with our 7 year old and loves it. A real find if you like an unpretentious settings and a genuinely relaxed atmosphere.

It was unusual to find a Japanese cuisine in this part of london. Pleasantly surprised. Inside is small and the decor is plain and doesn't have an oriental theme to it. However, it is clean and well placed out. The staff was really friendly and helpful.

Food wise, we ordered the sashimi and tempura prawn bentos. The sashimi was very fresh and the tempura was light and crispy. We enjoyed it very much. Albeit, it is a small menu and not entirely authentic. It does serve as a good introduction to Japanese dishes.

For those of you thinking of going there, their openning times are Wed to Sat 7pm - 11pm.

I have been here three times now as my fiancé had gone last Christmas and loved it...and so do I. Very friendly staff and, as mentioned basic but the (small) menu is fantastic-my favourite is tempura prawns. Going to book for valentines this Saturday if loss. Strangely, it is only open at the weekend as far as the notice on the door says and we have found to our disappointment one weekday evening.

A lovely little restaurant with great food, friendly service and excellent value. Facilities are very basic but pleasant. We find it best to order what is listed as "side dishes" as a starter then go on to a main or the superb bento boxes.
