Wow! I haven't been to the Satay Bar in ages and happened to meet up with some friends after work there yesterday. It had a great pre-xmas atmosphere and the happy hour drinks were as gorgeous as i remember. I wasn't going to eat but the smells coming out of the kitchen were hard to resist so ended up eating a huge bowl of mee goreng which was very tasty and so cheap! I think that the Satay Bar is great and much improved from the last time i was there [more seating areas, new menu etc]. Would recommend for cheap yet wicked evening out!!

I went to the Satay Bar last night for a bite to eat with my friends, and Im well and truly satisfied with the experience [my first time, but my friends had been before.]The service friendly and welcoming, as for my meal.... fresh, tasty and piping hot!! We arrived about 7.30 so was able to enjoy a happy hour 1/2 price cocktail first. I will be going again.

Hello, to the anonymous poster review below,
Please accept our apologies if you feel let own by our service and food. In answer to your comments:
A dress code is enforced within the Satay Bar itself. The dress code only applies to Baseball hats, not hats in general. There is actually a sign on entry stating this.
If you were shown a table for 2 and you had 4 in your party, we would rectify this immediately as it would not be feasible to actualy fit 4 people on a 2 person table.
I cannot comment on your personal experience with regards to the food, however we are all foodies here and would never ever contemplate serving under cooked or reheated food, not ever. In defense, our chefs are all Far East Asian, they really do know how to cook and our far East Asian customers have always commented how much it 'tastes like home', authentic it most definitely is.
Our minimal service charge is transparent and is always given directly to the staff, it is never used to make up the staff's salary and ultimately is optional.
Again we are sorry for your experience. We have a loyal long standing team working hard to offer you the best dining experience, including our lovely doorman who would have also been there 8 years ago, when you last visited.
However, sometimes, like anywhere that gets very busy, we can get it wrong and if we did on this occassion then we are very sorry.

I go to Saaay bar quite often, Its a great place to go to after work with a large group or even for couples.
Sometimes it can get very busy in there especially at happy hour due to the fact that the cocktails are soo delicious and reasonable.
The food is great and the portions are not to big and not to small and it is very tasty.
I really enjoy satay bar and I always recommend it, but try and get there early as space is limited.

The Satay Bar is a real gem in the heart of Brixton. The food is simply delicious and the staff is attentive but the real draw for me is the atmosphere. Relaxed and cool, this place has a classy vibe without being pretencious.
The acoustic live music on Thursdays is my favourite time (I am a regular there) hosted by the cream of London's rising rnb/soul talent. (great date night)
The weekend dj nights are also a great option.
All in all, highly recommended!
