Shocking delivery service. After submitting my order (online) they phoned me to confirm how much I wanted to pay and asked me how long I wanted to wait (strange questions I thought). Obviously I said I'll pay the menu price and we agreed the estimated delivery time would be 45mins. 2 hours later and I'm still waiting. I phoned their restaurant during this time to see what was going on but no-one answered. I never ever received my order. Awful.

wow. A hidden gem, the portions are plentiful, the food tastes amazing and you can get free delivery for orders over £10. I have eaten at the tai tip mein buffet in elephant (near the bus stop) but food tastes and looks cheap, i have eaten also at the new "dragon castle" but this place is expensive and food is below par, and the service is even lower. But "the well" is amazing.
Highly recommend the chicken saya skewers with sauce, and the vermicelli noodles.

One of my favourite restaurants my boyfriend took here for one of our first dates and i just keep going back. Very affordable if you want a nice dinner on a budget. The staff are friendly and polite and the food is great. I give The Well top marks!

I have always loved chinese cuisine and no where else is it tastier than at The Well. I came here with my boyfriend for a one-to-one meal for my 24th birthday and I absolutely loved it! I had a table reserved for 7pm and was promptly seen to my the waitress on duty. My visit was mid-week and there were already three other tables of diners but the atmosphere was still intimate. I highly recommend the kung po chicken (sweet and spicy at the same time) and the crispy aromatic duck (crispy yet tender). The drinks selection was very varied from white wines to fruit juice and coffee. The staff were very friendly, smiley and efficient when laying out the food and drink and they always found the right time to ask if we needed anything else so just attentive enough without being too invasive. The prices are a little pricier than other chinese restaurants around the E&C area I must admit but it more than makes up for it through the quality of food and service. This is a hidden gem and is sure to be a local favourite as it also provides a take-away service. If I lived nearby, this will be the chinese that I will definitely order from. The only thing I have to gripe about is that there is no local parking for easy access to the restaurant but that's more to do with location than the actual restaurant itself.

The Well is the best Chinese restaurant at the Elephant and Castle. The service is attentive, the ingredients fresh, and the dishes authentic. They will omit salt and MSG at your request. Especially good are the grilled dumplings (Northern Chinese style), the Monk's Vegetables (fresh and crispy), and the Aromatic Crispy Duck (appetiser). The prices are reasonable (around the same as other E&C Chinese restaurants) but the quality is better. Only hitch: the tea is too hot (get them to put a bit of cold water in it). The decor is attractive and there are plenty of large tables as well as takeaway service. My Chinese partner raves about it; so do I, and it's well worth a visit.
