Went here for dinner yesterday and possibly the worst culinary experience i've ever had in london.

i think a more appropriate name for this place is the chelsea microwave because nothing that comes out of the kitchen is fresh.
chips are oven baked not fresh cut.
vegetables taste like they're out of a packet, most likely frozen.
found cartilage or bone in my chicken too which was reheated and not freshly prepared.

one saving grace was that the customer service was at least half decent and we weren't forced to pay for our inedible main courses.

do not frequent!

Like other people I used the original on the Kings Rd and this is nothing like it even with the same owner. The staff are polite enough but not up to scratch when it comes to taking your order, why do they insist on not writing the order down,on seven visits I have not got what I ordered, thank god for Michael who seems to be in charge occasionally,he often has to correct the waitresses mistakes,as for the manager Fabio he seems to be in a world of his own and rarely if ever interacts with customers and he leaves the staff to the complaints not like Timbo who ran the Kings Rd CK.As for the food,I suppose it's ok for what you are charged but the kitchen needs to learn to strain the veg as my plate was water logged on more than three occasions, not nice if you like your fish and chips crispy, they can also be heavy handed with the salt why is that if there is salt on the table you can always add it to taste once on the table, the saving grace is the wine list, overall cheap and cheerfull and you get what you pay for and still popular with the cabbies I see..... TAXI!!!

Never fear!! The Chelsea Kitchen has re-opened! New premises are on the corner of the Fulham Road and Gunter Grove at 451 Fulham Road. I used to go to the Chelsea Kitchen when it was on the King's Road since before I was born as my mother used to have cravings for their curried eggs - surprisingly I hate curry! The Chelsea Kitchen will never be the same not being on the King's Road, but it is great to have it back even if it is snazzier than before and the old charm has gone; but the food is still great value for money and I'm just so happy to have the CK back!!

What an absolute disaster that the Chelsea Kitchen has closed! Why, Why, Why??? We used to eat there in the sixties if we didn't fancy the Hall of Residence meal (Lightfoot Hall as was, on the corner of Manresa Road and King's Road): mushroom omelette, chips, jelly and cream, caraffe of house red, discuss and solve the world's problems! It stayed unchanged up to the day it closed. Shocked to find it shut on my last visit from Cornwall. A veritable culinary jewel lost - forever? For good wholesome food at unbelievable prices, pretty waitresses and a brilliant atmosphere, it was without equal. You can keep The Ivy! How can this have been allowed to happen?

Chelsea Kitchen has been closed down more than a month ago and won't be re-opening as the premises are for rent/sale.
