Angelus is owned by Thierry Tomasin, the one-time Chairman Sommelier of Britain. Unsurprisingly wine is hugely important here, and the list is enormous, but happily the price range covered is very wide too. The head chef is Martin Nisbet, who favours typically French flavours but isn’t afraid to experiment by adding Asian influences into the mix.
The Grade II listed building Angelus inhabits has plenty of history. Dating back to the 19th century it was a favourite haunt of Winston Churchill when he was Prime Minister.
