Couple Sam and Sam Clark are passionate about food of Moorish origin, broadly defined as the cuisine of Spain and North Africa that has retained Arabic influences. The Clarks opened the restaurant in 1997 after touring through Spain, Morocco and the Sahara in a camper van, exploring the region’s cooking techniques and flavours.
Exmouth Market in Islington is where they are based (along with their sister restaurant Morito). Expect to find dishes made with Spanish butifarra sausage and Arabic ingredients like pomegranate, rosewater and dukkah. The bar menu has a mixture of nuts and dried fruits and tapas like Manchego cheese, sardines and tortilla.
