One of the best Vegetarian Restaurants in London without any doubt. The food is just delicious (and reasonably priced) and they deserve every credit possible! Very well done!

Vijay's Chawalla is an amazing indian café. It's perfect place to go to for a masala tea and a few snacks during the afternoon. The service is excellent and the waitors are very friendly. We love the food so much that whenever we go there, we eat loads and then take a takeaway. It is also brilliant for Indian sweets. Last diwali we ordered our indian sweets (barfi) from there and they were fantastic. So colourful, freshly made and wonderful taste.
Now, I come from an Indian family where we eat freshly cooked punjabi food on a daily basis but the taste of the food there is different. It is more Dehli/Mumbai sort of food. The cooks really capture the essence of what street food is like in India
Things that tend to put people off:
Toilets - Some people have said the toilets are dirty but they are not dirty - in fact toilets are relatively clean and it is matter of who has used them before you. They regulary clean them but if some random person comes and makes them dirty, then that is unlucky.
Hygene - Although there are some restaurants nearby which are not hygenic at all, chawallas a very hygenic place where everything is clean.
Regarding what you order, I recommend all the chaats, spicy paneer, masala chips channa masala with puris, potato curry, jeera rice, mango lassi, masala tea, falooda
All the food is served as it should be (hot/cold) and I've never eaten a bad dish!!!

I have been going here for years, and everytime I get the same consistent service was is superb. The only thing that is lacking is the updated decor however I believe that they are newly refurbished. The food is great and the staff very efficient. I would recommend this place to all.

I don't live far from Chawalla and I think it's brilliant. In fact, when my friends come to see me from different parts of London they always want to go there for lunch or dinner! The food is great, and there is quite a big variety too. It's not a posh cosy restaurant where you can have a romantic dinner for two, it's more like your Nandos, or Pizzahut. I highly reccommend it, in fact I would not eat in any other restaurant on Greent Street.....and I live walking distance from there!

Ok this place is not easy on the eye when inside, more like an east end cafe environment but most importantly of all, if you want quick home made indian vegetarian food this is the place to go. Me and my family always go there at least once every two months. There is a good homely atmosphere, but a word of warning the toilets are not clean, so beware if your are taking children with you not to say the place is not child friendly. In terms of dishes the chana bhutara are our favourites, they definatley taste home made, so enjoy!
