Admire West London's biggest Art Deco landmark

Where: Hoover Building, Western Avenue, UB6 8AT

The Hoover Building is one of West London's most remarkable sights, an imposing, art deco structure with eye-catching green-fronted windows that sits on the A40. It was opened in 1933 as the UK headquarters and manufacturing plant for the Hoover Company, at a time when demand for the gadgets was growing among British households. During World War II the factory was used to make parts for aircrafts, and in the late 80s the building was purchased by Tesco, who converted part of it into a supermarket.

While this is still there (operating as Greenford Hoover Building Superstore), as is customary the rest has been turned into flats. This means that sadly, the interior isn't open to the public, however we found one of the apartments listed on Airbnb, with photos suggesting a glamorous abode with luxurious bedrooms that each have their own private balcony.
