Anyone feeling nostalgia over their gap years spent backpacking around Thailand should head down to this bar in Chinatown. Inspired by the drinking holes of Bangkok's very own Chinatow, Speedboat Bar is a colourful, lively venue with canteen-style plastic tables and a pool table in the upstairs bar, which also has screens showing live sports.
In terms of food, you can stick to salty, beer-soaking snacks like sweetcorn fritters and fried chicken skins, or go for a more substantial curry, noodle or rice dish. The set menus are particularly good value - their lunchtime meals are a steal at £9.
