Where: Nusr-Et Steakhouse
Nusret Gökçe, better known as Salt Bae, became a celebrity thanks to his Instagram posts showing him flamboyantly sprinkling steaks with salt (over the shoulder, posture like a bullfighter) before theatrically slicing them. His videos quickly went viral, earning him a huge following and going on to open restaurants in the US, Greece, the UAE and Qatar among other regions.
The dishes and their price tags are as indulgent as the chef himself - at the recently opened Knightsbridge restaurant the Golden Tomahawk steak will set you back £850 - and yes, it is coated in a crusting of gold. With extravagances like these on offer a visit is bound to be a fascinating experience - and not necessarily for the food.
