Eat in the food hall that's inside a church

A cultural hub and sustainable community market

Where: Mercato Mayfair, St. Mark's Church, N Audley St W1K 6ZA

The beautiful Grade I-listed St Mark's Church in Mayfair had been closed to the public for around 20 years - ironic given that it was first constructed in the 1820s because of a shortage of churches in the area.

In 2019 it was given a new lease of life and became Mercato Mayfair, a food hall with a variety of food vendors and bars, with the decor remaining true to the original building. Hosted on two levels with a mezzanine terrace, there is hot food, deli items, a wine bar and cocktails - however on our visit the margaritas left rather a lot to be desired.

It's a popular spot so if you want to avoid noise pick a quiet week night to admire the interiors.

It's golf. But without the daft shoes. Or balls. Or clubs. It's basically nothing like golf.
