Having never walked the historic Silk Road, we’re grateful to the Magic Lantern Festival for giving us the chance. Okay, that ancient trade route really has nothing to do with our interest in this, we’re more attracted by the idea of pretty blinking lights and giant lanterns, but still, it’s good to know your history.
Open until the end of February 2017, the magic Lantern Festival is exactly what it sounds like – a whimsical featival of brightly lit lanterns littered throughout the woodland of Chiswick House Park.
As previously stated, this year’s theme is The Silk Road, so expect plenty of Year of the Rooster action along the lantern trails that wind around the park. Aside form lanterns there’s also ice skating and food and drink stalls.
