The Hope Workers Cafe on Holloway Road has been open since 1937, serving hearty English breakfasts for more than 85 years, thereby surviving gentrification, the pandemic, and so far the cost of living crisis that has put many independent pubs and eateries out of business.
The owners, a husband and wife team, are in charge of most of the cooking, which includes numerous versions of the full English and Greek-inspired dishes from their native Cyprus.
