This must try is connected to: Beckenham Place Park

At 96 hectares, this is Lewisham's biggest park, and it's also notable for boasting London's first purpose-built lake, open to swimmers. Once the grounds of a Palladian-style private mansion, the council opened it to the public in 1920 due to the lack of open green spaces in south London.

The mansion is now a community centre and cafe, while the park itself is a haven for nature lovers with oaks, sweet chestnut trees, a mulberry tree and plenty of wild animals including foxes and badgers.
