Did you know that Highgate Cemetery has catacombs that you can visit?
The Terrace Catacombs are located in the West Cemetery, the oldest part of the Victorian graveyard. Once inside, you can see the coffins on display, placed inside individual recesses within a brick-vaulted gallery. As well as the spooky appeal of it all, these are of interest to history fans because they are thought to be part of the earliest surviving asphalted building in England.
