Drink coffee in a beautiful old toilet

Have tea where you used to pee

Where: Attendant Café – 27a Foley Street, London

This particular treat sounds a lot more unhygienic than it really is. We certainly don’t want any of you thinking we’re suggesting taking tea in the loo and balancing your cake on your knee. Ohhhh nooo…

We’re talking about the Attendant Café in Fitzrovia. The beautiful basement space was previously a public toilet – or at least the attendant’s office of a public toilet. And to make things even weirder the current inhabitants kept many of the old fixtures and fittings to convey a real sense of the building’s history. What you’re left with is excellent coffee, fine cake and a row of grand Victorian tiling and porcelain urinals; scrubbed, naturally.
