Jake & Dinos Chapman, Charles Avery, Goshka Macuga and other leading artists are to create one-off pub signs to be sold as a fundraiser for Space In Between next month.
Over 20 exhibiting artists - both well known and emerging – are each producing a pub sign based on the name of a pub of their choice. These original artworks, featuring famous and bizarre pub names such as “Ye Olde Cheddar Cheese”, “The Prospect of Whitby”, “The One Tun” and “The Cross Keys” will be installed as part of an exhibition and Preview event at the Londonewcastle Project Space throughout December. Each of these one-off artworks will be available to buy, with all money raised in support of Space In Between’s ongoing programme, focused on commissioning and exhibiting work by emerging artists at an important stage in the development of their careers.
A glimpse in to this rich gallery programme will be provided by a group exhibition of recently commissioned work, taking place in Gallery 3 of the Londonewcastle space.
A fully functional pop-up pub, run by Cottam + Cottam will also be installed within Gallery1, hosting a series of live events, bands and art-orientated pub quizzes throughout the 10-day period.
Space In Between is a not for profit commissioning gallery, established in 2009 to provide a platform for artists at an important stage in their careers. ARTISTS MAKE PUB SIGNS: A FUNDRAISER sees internationally renowned and emerging artists donate specially commissioned pub signs for sale to support the ongoing programme at Space In Between. All proceeds of the fundraiser will go towards commissioning and supporting new work by important and exciting artists.
