Fashion Space Gallery, located at London College of Fashion, is delighted to announce Jean Paul Gaultier: Be My Guest, an exhibition of Jean Paul Gaultier’s graphic design work.
Shown for the first time this exhibition will feature imagery, which he created, from the 1980s to now including the couturier’s unique designs for invitations to haute couture and prêt-à-porter, as well as his iconic advertising campaigns.
The satellite show of the Barbican Art Gallery’s exhibition, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk, traces a trajectory through the evolution of his work and reveals the themes and concepts which have led to his long-standing reputation as fashion’s enfant terrible. Included in the exhibition are invitations and campaigns for seminal collections including the invite to his first women’s prêt-à-porter collection launched for Spring/Summer 1977 through to the advertising campaign for his Tribute to Frida Kahlo collection, Spring/Summer 1998. The exhibition reflects how Gaultier has shaped his image and translated his visionary catwalk collections into iconic invitations and advertising campaigns.
