House of Vans London Presents…Oh! by Sophie Ward

House of Vans London is proud to host the debut exhibition of Sophie Ward’s latest collection of work, Oh!

When reading the Dr Seuss poem ‘Oh! The places you’ll go!” to her daughter one night, artist Sophie Ward was struck by how the simple and absurd children’s poem succinctly unlocked the secrets of happiness by acknowledging life is not always easy. It is, in fact “a great balancing act.” Fascinated by the darkness and struggle impossible to escape when living, Sophie’s work explores the existential anxiety felt by women today – from the masks we employ, to finding acceptance within – by taking traditionally feminine, bubblegum aesthetics and reclaiming them in her unique style.

Oh! debuts Sophie’s first series of paintings.

The exhibition will open to the public from Friday 11th December and will run until Sunday 20th December. Entry is Free.

About the artist:
From window displays at Selfridges to prints for Henry Holland, Sophie has created a large and eclectic body of work in her distinctive black pen style. Her prints previously sold in Dover Street Market, Selfridges and Urban Outfitters.
