Improv Comedy for Anxiety Skills Training: Have the Fear and Do it Anyway - 4 Week Course.
This course is specially designed and it combines ensemble-based improv and DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) practice. The aim of the course is to help people with mild to moderate social anxiety, fear of public speaking manage their symptoms and reduce avoidance behaviors in social, work/school and family settings.
The Improv for Anxiety is 4 week long with a 3 hour practice per week, including ideas to practice at home.
The course includes playful and fun improv group games designed to be inclusive and participative in a safe and contained environment. This course is open to all, no previous experience of Improv comedy is required, just willingness to participate.
Responses from previous participants
"My group absolutely loved the improv comedy. The numbers increased during the sessions which shows how successful it is.
During check-in from 9.30 am to 10.30 am the mood in the room was quite low. People from all different backgrounds sharing their experiences of depression and anxiety. However, once we started the Improv comedy the mood in the room instantly changed. People had permission to laugh, be silly and let go. It was incredible to see the change in such a short time frame. I can't wait for there to be another course. It is the most successful activity that I have put on for the group. Thank you so much Nat."
