The Trooping of the Colour celebrates the Queen’s official birthday.
The parade, principally, demonstrates the strength of the armed forces which the Queen has under her control, as well as an exhibition of pageantry.
At 12:50 there’s a gun salute in Green Park and at 13:00 a fly-past by the RAF. A different Battalion gives the Royal Salute each year.
The event is completely free to spectators, who line the Mall.
