Join BID and the Brandenburg Choral Festival at:

Bach to the Beatles

400 years of music from Johann Sebastian to John, Paul, George and Ringo in one evening!

Programme Summary

The Brandenburg Choral Festival of London is delighted to welcome The Cecilian Singers to the 2017 Spring Series. This fabulous chamber choir from Leicester under the direction of the multi-talented Jeremy Jackman will lead us on a musical adventure with repertoire spanning Bach to The Beatles via pretty much everything in between. The concert will be presented in four sections: “Folk Songs” will explore traditional music from the British Isles and the New World including an energetic Hoe-down; “Through the Ages” features music from each century starting in the Renaissance and Thomas Tomkins and finishing in the present day with a piece by the choir's conductor, Jeremy Jackman; Edwardiana features works by some of those turn-of-the-century heroes of the English choral tradition, Parry, Stanford, Bairstow and Finzi; and finally Whatever Next? offers some lighter repertoire from more recent times, including songs by Gershwin and Lennon and McCartney. This fun and varied concert really will have something for everyone.

About the Festival

The Brandenburg Choral Festival of London exists as a platform for choirs to perform in Central London venues. It is London's biggest and broadest celebration of all things choral - and we mean everything! Over the year we bring together choirs and vocal ensembles of different shapes and sizes, and from every musical background - classical and jazz, a cappella or accompanied, gospel, male voice, choral scholars, community choirs, and a whole lot more besides! With two main seasons each year – the Spring Series and the Autumn Series – Brandenburg presents over a hundred concerts of unparalleled variety. Centred geographically and spiritually around St. Martin-in-the-Fields, other venues include St Sepulchre-without-Newgate, Temple Church, Corpus Christi Maiden Lane, Royal Courts of Justice, National Portrait Gallery, St James's Sussex Gardens and many more.
