Come feel the tropical heat! Rhythm Passport bring you a one-of-a-kind Friday night featuring three of the most powerful world music collectives on the scene right now. Pack your bags for the Bank Holiday, leave your daily grind at home and head down to Rich Mix to regenerate your inner groove with Brightonian tropical beats!

Rhythm Passport are a free magazine and events listings site for open minded, curious, fun loving people who want to discover music from around the world. This year they have distilled their extensive knowledge of the world music scene in London into a series of inspiring lineups. This sensational night packed with female powerhouses and floor shaking beats is their second offering, following on from the success of their collaboration with Movimientos in February.

On April 28th tropical cyclones Lakuta, Afro-soul/hip hop group Native Sun, and the Family Atlantica Duo thunder into London, ready to tear up the dancefloor with their infectious Afro-Latin rhythms and Caribbean beats. Headed up by powerful forces of Tanzanian/Kenyan vocalist Siggi Mwasote and Latin percussionist Cicely Taylor, 8 strong tropical funk collective Lakuta are truly the cream of the crop of UK Afrofusion happening right now, whilst Native Sun showcase their unique fusion of conscious hip hop and African beats, and the Family Atlantica duo bring Venezuelan rhythms courtesy of the magical voice of Luzmira Zerpa. These three ensembles bring an uptempo repertoire and inspired musicianship to the Rich Mix stage, yet represent completely distinct ways to embody the traditions coming from West & South East Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean Islands.

On the decks we have the talents of music collector Pete on the Corner. He heads up On the Corner Records which has been endorsed by a broad church of tastemakers - from Gilles Peterson to Laurent Garnier. We'll work our way through funk, soul, Afrobeat, Latin, Caribbean and more on this exciting night at an iconic London venue.
