Breaking the Rules Workshop

Ages 11-14

What is it about?
We’ve teamed up with TOOT Theatre Co. to bring you a mini-play-in-a-day to allow aspiring young theatre makers to devise, develop and stage a piece of work they have created together using their new skills and knowledge.

We will create an original performance in just one day, based on your views and ideas about rules (and breaking them!) Using sound, multimedia and space in unexpected ways, bring your creativity to life for an audience of family and friends on the Unicorn stage.

This workshop will appeal to young people who enjoy performing, however previous experience is not necessary and if a particular participant is interested but lacking in confidence then we will support that individual to develop their creativity and confidence throughout the day.

Workshop outline:
What’s the one rule, you would break if you could? Are all rules fair? What rules would you like to change? What rules of theatre could you break too?

Participants are asked to come with an idea of one rule they would break or change if they could, we hope to harness imaginative scope that is rooted in their own current experiences or perceptions of life.
