K-Music London Showcase Presents:
The Barberettes + Sultan of The Disco Live at The Borderline

On Tuesday 23 May 2017, the K-Music London Showcase returns to The Borderline with an impressive line-up featuring the ever popular The Barberettes and Sultan of The Disco.

Each year the Korean Cultural Centre UK (KCCUK), in partnership with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), produces its K-Music Showcase presenting exciting Korean bands to the London audience before they tour the UK festival circuit. In 2017, for one night only, fresh from appearances at Brighton’s Great Escape Festival and just ahead of performing at Sound City in Liverpool, both groups will entertain crowds at London’s iconic Borderline venue.

KCCUK Director, Hoseong Yong, says, “K-Music has become a global phenomenon and we always receive an incredible reaction from the London audience when we present the latest Korean talent. Being selected to perform at both The Great Escape and Sound City is credit to the artists appearing in London this year. On 23rd May, fans at The Borderline can look forward to a unique blend of doo-wop, pop, soul and funk from the acts performing.”

London’s live music fans can enjoy this one-off opportunity to see some of K-Music’s most spectacular acts showcased at the city’s legendary Borderline venue on 23rd May.

The Barberettes
The Barberettes are an energetic girl group consisting of three female singers. After releasing their first album The Barberettes Vol. 1 in May 2014, they became known for being “a time-travelling girl group reproducing the sound of the ‘50s & ‘60s”. As well as presenting contemporary, self-written material, The Barberettes soothe their audiences’ ears with the nostalgic joy of analogue sounds of yesteryear, blending smooth harmonies and an impressive stage show. Their international appearances have always been greeted with critical acclaim and the last time they toured the UK they enjoyed performances at BBC London radio and on BBC1’s The One Show.

Sultan of The Disco
Korean indie band, Sultan of The Disco, deliver vintage sounds of Soul/Funk to a contemporary audience. Inspired by acts from the golden age of disco, from Chic to Kool and The Gang and the Jackson 5, the band brings back the performance element to the stage. The award-nominated act, now signed to major label VAP, have worked with Grammy-winning producer, Tony Maserait, and always gets the crowd dancing and fully immersed in their ever-entertaining sets, and have performed on stages from Canada to Japan to Glastonbury.
