Antarctica + The Outbursts + Who Killed Nancy Johnson? + Dronningen
Antarctica: Slick but dynamic and inventive psych-tinged blues rock - snappy arrangements, songs build really well a-la early 70’s Bowie, and the layered harmonies and sense of suspense recall Fleetwood Mac. Great stuff.
The Outbursts: A sound equally informed by garage punk like The Standells and proto-punk, so we’re talking MC5 and The Stooges and yer classic old school 77 gear Stranglers, The Damned etc.
Who Killed Nancy Johnson?: High-energy heavy ?pop-?punk to punk to post-punk band. Influences include The Stooges, The Ruts, Buzzcocks, The Rezillos and Alkaline Trio, Weezer, Sabbath. Infectiously hooky tunes, executed with conviction and known for their incendiary live show.
Dronningen: Think Le Tigre but a bit harder/techier, but very much post-punky post-rave culture electropop de rock with shouty but melodic female vox. Another superb live act who are due to go places.
