A look through the operatic output from Portugal and Spain from the Baroque to the Romantic Nationalist Movement.

In this morning's lecture we look at the operatic creation in Portugal and Spain through the ages. Starting with one of Europe's superstar composers in the 18th century - Marcos Portugal - we will then move to Spain and the works of Martin y Soler, all the way to Iberian Romantics Manuel de Falla, João Arroyo and Alfredo Keil.

Opera Prelude is a small charity passionate about supporting young professional opera singers who give lecture recitals in London. These friendly and inclusive events will introduce you to the international opera singers of tomorrow by way of recitals, concerts and masterclasses.
