WEST LONDON ART FACTORY (WLAF) – Art Studios, screen printing studio and online print store in North Acton

West London Art Factory is one of London’s hidden gems - and like all good finds has somehow managed to remain under the radar. While our attention’s been East, the West London art scene has been busy with its own hive of events, such as BEAT (Borough of Ealing Art Trail), and is fast re-emerging as the place to be for artists and creatives alike.

West London Art Factory is proud and excited to launch its first 2018 open studio event on the 24th and 25th March. The public are invited to the Art Factory’s studio exhibition and pop up shop, where affordable artworks, limited edition prints and luxury designed gifts are available to buy directly from the WLAF’s collection and their resident artists.

Live painting, a creative room for kids and a bar are just some of the highlights on offer. As well as fine art, street art, photography, prints, stained glass, bespoke t-shirts and gifts, the real pull here will be the opportunity to connect with West London’s blossoming art community - who are producing some of London’s most exciting work right now.

Awarding winning photographer, Gina Soden’s hauntingly beautiful images of abandoned structures can be seen in Soho house and The NED hotel in London. Her compositions deal with time, memory, decay and decadent ruinous beauty with a contemporary aesthetic. Tom Spencer’s Tattoo Glass has graced the walls of the V&A and when not channelling his punk aesthetic into the intricate art of stained glass he plays music with the Sex Pistols. Wander into Daniela Raytchev’s studio and her abstract paintings and sculptures speak untold truths about the stigmas of mental health and feminist issues. Her work has been internationally recognised by the likes of Huffington Post, the Times and Newsweek.

Whether you’re interested in buying and browsing stunning art, interacting with critically-acclaimed artists, looking to get involved with the West London art community, or simply interested in the Factory’s brand new studio facilities which are available to rent - this promises a stimulating and enlightening experience for everyone.

WLAF was co-founded by artist and Creative Director Jewel Goodby, and her husband and Managing Director James Goodby, in 2012. Since then the successful duo have been passionately dedicated to providing a creative hub for artists to work, connect and collaborate. Their focus has always been and continues to be the development of the West London art scene and community, with a long term ambition to provide multiple facilities in Ealing, Hounslow and Brent. No small feat in London where the demand for creative space is high but sadly scarce.

In 2017 they relocated their studios due to site redevelopment. They chose to expand upon their past success and develop an even bigger, more improved space, to host a unique selection of brand new studios for artists and musicians to rent on a flexible basis.

The result is a spacious, fully equipped, light filled creative environment, in which resident artists can work, exhibit and hold workshops or events to connect with London’s Public.

The line-up of contemporary artists exhibiting at the event are as follows:

Stephanie Mill – Urban Contemporary Artist – whose visual communication training surfaces throughout her vibrant digital aesthetic.

Richard Wilson – Contemporary portraiture artist – has a background in spray paint Graffiti and trained in Bonham’s Auction House where exposure to the Old Masters and Contemporary Masters influenced the self-taught artist to explore the use of oil paint.
