Chalton Gallery presents a solo show by the Mexican artist Rodrigo Red Sandoval: Loopholes.
How does the outline divide a mountain from the rest of its surroundings, separate the peaks from the sky, how do we divide a tree from the ground, a leaf from a branch? How does the outline of a word divide an object or phenomena from the rest? An exhibition about pointing, focus and about the abouts.
Rodrigo Red Sandoval (b. 1985, Mexico City) has a Masters of Fine Arts from Glasgow School of Art (2016) and a background in Philosophy and Design. He just finished a year residency at Jan Van Eyck, Netherlands (2018). Some of his awards include: Bloomberg New Contemporaries (2016) and The Royal British Society of Sculptors Bursary Award (2017-2018). Recent group exhibitions include: Museo Legitimo, Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Madrid (2017); Anastasis, White Crypt, London (2017); Bloomberg New Contemporaries, ICA, London and the Bluecoat, Liverpool Biennial (2016); El Changarrito, Museo de la Ciudad de México, México City (2016); Still Rolling With Times, Transmission Gallery, Glasgow (2015).
Currently Rodrigo is being featured in A Return to The Island, a publication by Helena Lugo, published by Goldsmiths University of London. He is living and working in Amsterdam.
