The Ex-Boyfriend Yard Sale exhibition is a pop-up installation about the cost of love or what love costs us. Critically acclaimed theatre practitioner Haley McGee joins local artists and creative organisations to contribute to Meanwhile: Arts Space, a month-long programme of free exhibitions taking over a disused outlet, for thousands of commuters who pass through Euston Station. The exhibition is part of a wider body of work where McGee is collaborating with mathematician, Melanie Phillips, to create a formula for the cost of love.
The Ex-Boyfriend Yard Sale exhibition involves objects from McGee's own past boyfriends', an interactive opportunity for the audience to contribute their own stories about what love has cost them, testimonials from expert valuers and the ex-boyfriends themselves and McGee herself offering out free drip coffee. Expect to encounter a space which embodies the tension of how we ascribe value to things, as a playful, curated mash-up of an art gallery, auction house and yard sale. Passers by are welcome to breeze through or stay for longer.
