To celebrate the recent launch of Anna Jones’ ‘The Modern Cocktail Guide’ Tanqueray Gin has teamed up with HIX to create two deliciously innovative cocktails; The Stiff Upper Lip and The Bucking Bronco, perfect for a pre-dinner drink at Mark’s Bar.
Created by, Head of Bars at HIX, Dustin MacMillan, the two drinks celebrate the modern trend for pairing cocktails with food, harnessing the fresh flavours of seasonal summer ingredients from the garden, and complimenting them with the perfectly balanced dry and crisp Tanqueray London Dry Gin and the HIX bar menu.
The Stiff Upper Lip
Combines the freshness of summer peas with the seasonal flavours of house-made elderflower cordial and the zest of lime, blended then infused into Tanqueray London Dry Gin. This innovative cocktail really showcases seasonality, as well as scoring sustainability points by making use of pea shells from the HIX kitchen. With delicate summer flavours, together with the zest of lime and taste of Tanqueray, it’s a perfect serve for these long, hot days and will partner with flavoursome salads and seafood dishes, especially oysters. The fresh, herbal sweetness and ingredients within the gin work particularly well with the minerality of the oysters in any form.
The Bucking Bronco
A long and lovely drink, with Tanqueray Gin, apricot liqueur, lemon juice and honey stirred with tart, crisp sea buckthorn, and topped with soda water. This delicious drink tastes bitter-sweet, with all the complexity that will work with a range of dishes but will really sing when paired with charred meats. A perfect sip for a hot day, this cocktail has all the tell-tale signs of summer. The Bucking Bronco pairs well with our Korena chicken wings as the apricot and bitter sea buckthorn when mixed together demand some heat.
