About the event

Free-thinkers, philanthropists and socialists!

A fascinating evening exploring the history and people of Great Ormond Street and the wider local area - and their impact on child health, workers’ rights, women’s education, arts and crafts and much more that we all still care about today.

Local resident and historian Alec Forshaw, author of ‘An Address in Bloomsbury’ based on his home at 49 Great Ormond Street, will reveal the wide-ranging contribution people from our neighbourhood have had on the nation’s values and policies through the centuries.

Venue courtesy St George the Martyr church; event organised by Holborn and Covent Garden Labour Party branch.

Book sales and signing afterwards. Arrive early - George's cafe in the church will be open till 7pm.
