(Steep Themselves In Night is presented as part of The Other Palace’s new musical workshop sharings)

There’s plenty of drama happening in the enchanted forest. The Fairy Queen and her lover, the angsty half-fairy Majesty, have had some kind of argument, and she has disappeared. Majesty’s anger and emotional fog has caused, well, a literal fog, and Rufus, Bramble and Flutter are left to pick up the pieces.

Meanwhile, back in the mortal world, Dimitri is madly in love with Xander - but that’s rather illegal in The Old City. The pair spontaneously decide to escape under the cover of the mysterious fog overwhelming the nearby forest, unaware that Dimitri’s best friend Maria and adoring ex-fiancée Ella are following close behind.

When the fairies and mortals unexpectedly cross paths, things get messy – but this is only the beginning for our fairytale-hating narrator, who decides to have some fun of his own…

An 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream' and Gilbert and Sullivan-inspired mashup, Steep Themselves in Night is a contemporary musical fairytale with a twist or two… but more importantly it’s a warning to us all about letting rogue narrators run away with their stories.
