Bishwo Shahitto Kendro presents The Floating Hearts

Bangla/English | 80 minutes

The Floating Hearts portrays the lives of five ordinary women stuck in the labyrinth of expectations from family and society and each carrying their own emotional baggage and damage. The main protagonists include a woman with a disability, a woman with a successful career, a lesbian, a widow and a deeply unhappy, unmarried and childless individual. Loss, and a lack of support are the key themes which link them together while they stand at life’s crossroads and face challenging decisions, though in some cases, they have limited scope to take control. It uses a mixture of English and Bengali dialogues with music and potential audience interaction.

Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, London (BSKL) commenced its journey in 2002 as a non-profit voluntary organisation. Following the dictum "Alokito Manush Chai: We want Enlightened Humans". BSKL engages in creating a 'home away from home' for the Bangladeshi community to cherish and maintain the richness and vibrancy of Bengali tradition in the heart of this cosmopolitan city.
