Geoff Mason Simon Spillett Quintet

Formed in 2002 by Geoff Mason and the late Roland Lacey, the band has built a considerable reputation as a fine exponent of Blue Note era jazz. Blue Note has been largely associated with the ‘Hard-Bop’ style of jazz, mixing bebop with other forms of music including soul, blues and gospel. Horace Silver, Jimmy Smith, Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan, Art Blakey and Grant Green were among the Blue Note’s leading artists but all the important musicians in post war jazz recorded for the Blue Note Label. The Quintet has appeared at many iconic venues including The Watermill Jazz club, The Bull’s Head Barnes, Ealing Jazz Festival, Jazz in the Park at Regents Park and The Scarborough Jazz Festival.
