‘Public routes’, a project by artists Alex Parry and Sadie Edginton, invites gallery visitors, community groups, and local residents to consider the possibility of the bus as a site of action for the people of London.

Responding to Johann Arens’ exhibition Scenes of the World, which takes the local P5 bus as a starting point, a set of questions and provocations displayed in the gallery’s Project Space lead the visitors on a journey. Drop in during gallery hours to play with sculptural and textual materials inspired by buses and travel, allowing us to individually and collectively imagine new narratives for the bus.

Through accumulating interpretations of bus journeys, the project considers our relationship with 'public' services and the spatial designs that influence what takes place on board them.
Offsite there will be a series of collaborative workshops at the ROSE community Clubroom, initiating an exploration of the P5 bus route through local perspectives, represented through film and other documentation.
