Part of Stroud Green Festival 2019

A concert/play by Clare Norburn.
So much more than a reading with music: this is a fully staged piece with dramatic lighting, presenting the personal dilemma of the extraordinary medieval Abbess Hildegard of Bingen through her mesmeric chants, with emotional interchanges between musicians and Hildegard, played by acclaimed RSC actor Teresa Banham*.

“exquisite singing, story-telling & stagecraft… heaven must sound just like this” audience feedback
“beguiling, Siren-like voices... the fervent, florid chants of Hildegard of Bingen – so fragrant you can almost smell them… There is an expressive ardour to these performances that is hard to resist” BBC Music Magazine

The Telling:
Clare Norburn & Ariane Prüssner voices
Jean Kelly harp
with Teresa Banham* as Hildegard
Nicholas Renton director
Natalie Rowland lighting designer
