The Elysian Singers are delighted to be joining forces with the Royal Orchestral Society once again, this time to perform Beethoven in his 250th anniversary year. All the works were first performed in 1807. The fizzing Coriolan Overture and the unfairly neglected Symphony No.4 are both masterworks of the composer’s middle period. And the Mass in C, although not on the scale of the later Missa Solemnis, is surely one of Beethoven’s most beautiful and moving choral works.
