Spring Bird Watching Walk
Spring is a brilliant time to visit WWT London Wetland Centre, with summer migrants to the UK starting to make an appearance.
Our warden will guide you around the wildlife reserve to see what’s about and give you tips on field-craft and bird ID. Over 180 species of bird are recorded on site each year, so hopefully you’ll spot a variety of species.
You’ll be looking out for Willow, Reed and Sedge Warblers, Reed Bunting, Chiffchaff and Blackcap flitting among trees and reeds, Wheatear and Yellow Wagtail out on the Grazing Marsh and Sand Martin beginning to nest in our specially constructed bank. There should also be plenty of waders to spot, including Redshank, Little Ringed Plover and Lapwing.
This guided walk starts prior to usual opening hours, so you'll get a rare opportunity to experience the centre without other visitors. Please note that prior to the walk the cafe and buildlings will be closed.
Please bring your own binoculars/telescope to get the most out of the walk.
