This March, Broadgate is delighted to host Sensory Symphony, a brand new, immersive experience in collaboration with Guildhall School of Music & Drama, that combines cutting-edge digital technology and musical performance.

In this first of its kind installation, Londoners will have the opportunity to create a visual projection produced by their own physical responses to music, which will be monitored and transmitted by headsets.

Where live music meets technology, the free event on Wednesday 18 March aims to engage audiences in a fun and evocative night to remember.

Within a bespoke 3D sculptural environment, inspired by Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus, award-winning harpist and Guildhall School alumna Helena Ricci will delight as she plays a classical repertoire which will evolve into her own improvisation.

Wearing sensory headsets, which supply live data generated by the wearer’s responses, the audience will 'control' how the projection is generated and presented, in turn informing the musician’s improvised performance.

Projected imagery and sound effects will surround the audience throughout, encasing them within a digital landscape, designed to heighten the overall experience.

The project aims to explore the mindfulness technology often used in meditation in an artistic context, producing new artwork that results from the information of the headsets. The combination of technology – real-time graphics, projection mapping and Brain Computer Interface (BCI) – with live music will be a first for UK audiences.

The free event will take place at The Space, 3FA in Finsbury Avenue Square, Broadgate on Wednesday 18 March from 6pm-8pm. The performance can be enjoyed with or without the use of the headsets, a limited number are available, however, you’ll still be able to see the movements created by the responses of others in the audience.

A hub for innovation and technology, Broadgate is committed to showcasing emerging ideas and talent. Broadgate is London’s largest pedestrianised neighbourhood, and is a public arena which holds some of the capital’s finest food, retail and culture.
