Olympic Marathon Swimming

Olympic races are conducted over a variety of distances, from 50 - 1500 meters. All the pool events begin with heats, with the best swimmers from the qualifying rounds eventually racing for gold in the final.

The 10km marathon swim is to be held in the Serpentine Lake in Hyde Park. Temporary seats will be built in June 2012 for spectators to observe from, and the course will be clearly marked out.
