A Candlelit Evening of Russian Classical Romance: "Don't go, stay with me..."

A special candlelit evening of the classical Russian Romance in support of the Russian Language and Culture in the UK

Sergey Zakharov baritone | Alexander Kagan piano

A legend of the Russian stage, Sergey Zakharov has a unique, magnificent, powerful and deep baritone voice. His magical appeal always attracts huge audiences in his native Russia and around the world. He is a People's Artist of Russia and his accompanist, Alexander Kagan, a Distinguished Artist of Russia.

In this concert he performs a selection of well-loved and timeless Russian classics, such as I loved you (lyrics by Pushkin), I met you, Misty morning (lyrics by Turgenev), 'Tis not you I love so ardently (lyrics by Lermontov), Troika, Along Piterskaya Street, Ochi chornye, and many other beautiful Russian folk songs, romances and arias.
"Russian music, when performed by non-Russians, is often scholastic, or simply misinterpreted. Some performers concentrate on their voice more than the emotion in the music. I, on the contrary, always express the spiritual content, the soul of the song." - Sergey Zakharov
A concert by Sergey Zakharov is not to be missed!
