Weekend Circuit with Derrick May

The pioneering Detroit diehard has truly shaped club culture right from its inception in the 80s, and May still remains as important a figurehead as ever. As Rhythim Is Rhythim, his legendary ‘Strings of Life’ marked the explosion of a new underground and captured the imagination of the next generation.

May went on to become one of the first American producers to tour England, championing the techno and house scenes. His seminal Transmat label has released tracks from techno’s finest, including Stacey Pullen, Juan Atkins, Joey Beltram and Carl Craig.

A stalwart of the international circuit, May is currently touring across cities including Paris, Tokyo, Berlin, Melbourne and, of course, London, and supports the next wave of electronic artists through the re-launched Transmat. In 2010, he received the International Career Award at Midsummer Music Conference.
